*DSL DIRE STRAITS Legacy and Nazareth to headline 4-date NZ summer concert series, ‘A Summer’s Day Live’

Legends of British rock, Dire Straits, have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide. This Summer, *DSL Dire Straits Legacy bring back their iconic music, performed by the original musicians who recorded and toured with Dire Straits from over 30 years ago, and who have performed live as Dire Straits on multiple global tours. *DSL Dire Straits Legacy is as original as it gets. The band takes to Aotearoa stages this summer for 'A Summer's Day Live' – returning as the premiere Aotearoa Summer concert series.

Headlining alongside *DSL Dire Straits Legacy is the massive Scottish rock act Nazareth; one of the most successful rock bands in the world with a repertoire of global hits spanning five decades, now making history as their first time on Aotearoa soil.

A Summer’s Day Live’ returns as the premiere Aotearoa summer concert series, continuing to bring iconic acts and local legends to the regional stages. Past performers for ‘A Summer’s Day Live’ have included US legends TOTO, Bryan Adams, UB40, Jefferson Starship, Dragon and more.
The 2023/2024 concert series will see *DSL Dire Straits Legacy and Nazareth play shows at Church Road in Napier on December 29; Wharepai Domain in Tauranga on December 30; Matakana Showgrounds in Matakana on January 2; and the Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth on January 3.
Kiwi favourites, Hello Sailor, will support *DSL Dire Straits Legacy and Nazareth with a not-to-be-missed acoustic set on each of the tour dates, along with additional local acts from each region.

It’s without question that Dire Straits are legends of British rock, having sold over 120 million albums worldwide. Drawing from six platinum albums, songs from their expansive catalog will be performed by *DSL Dire Straits Legacy’s incredible live show, which features all of the classic Dire Straits hits including ‘Money for Nothing’, ‘Sultans of Swing’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Walk of Life’, ‘Brothers in Arms’, ‘Tunnel of Love’ and many more.

In *DSL Dire Straits Legacy is Alan Clark, Dire Straits’ first keyboardist; Phil Palmer and Danny Cummings, who both recorded ON EVERY STREET; Mel Collins who played on singles ‘Love Over Gold and ‘Twisting by the Pool. All have performed live with Dire Straits on multiple global tours. The band members will all continue the legacy of Jack Sonni, after his recent untimely passing, with the upcoming shows a special tribute to his life.

Other *DSL Dire Straits Legacy members include bassist Trevor Horn (The Buggles, Yes), one of the world’s greatest record producers; Primiano Di Biase, Europe’s most in-demand and sought-after keyboardist; and frontman Marco Caviglia, who is widely regarded as the world’s leading authority on Mark Knopfler’s unique guitar-playing style.
Scottish rock royalty Nazareth have been creating new music since the early 70’s right up to the present day, having recently released their 25th studio album SURVIVING THE LAW. With their repertoire featuring hits spanning five decades, including the smash hit ‘Love Hurts’. Their songs like ‘Broken Down Angel’ and ‘Bad Bad Boy’ all made their mark on the world charts, alongside the mega hits ‘Dream On’, ‘This Flight Tonight’ and ‘Hair Of The Dog’.
